Firsthand, I have to disagree with the assortment of comments that paint this restaurant (or sushi bar) as sorely lacking in decor, or just a middling visual presence. The truth is that it's extremely cozy in the best ways possible. This is not some overwhelming resteraunt with far reaching parameter scope so that you feel like one faceless guest in a sterile barn of a buffet palace. Instead, this is a beautifully decorated nook tailored with Japanese flair that makes one feel as though they've just entered a truly Sterling culinary gem in a city that begs for some. That established, I and many friends (and a date or two) have long tried Tuna 2 since they first opened around the mid 2000s. Tuna 2 still had all the same charm and cultural finery that competes only with the absolute mastery of it's Sushi chef's imagination. The sushi selections are wonderfully varied, plentiful and feature the best sushi you're likely to find outside of the bigger cities, including the Big Apple. I'd even wager that Tuna 2 could readily and easily compete taste for taste, quality for quality, with those finest sushi bar establishments. The sushi selections also offer variations leaning more towards the less fishy side of things and others more vegetable laden. Either way you slice it, you're more then getting your money's worth in terms of quality, consistency with genuine ample reflections of Japanese culture. If you're a party of two or more, they feature ensemble dishes that offer a comprehensive package that encapsulates the top tier dishes in a large sharable taster tray. The deserts are equally as great, as are the teas, beers, wines and of course, sake for those with a thirsty penchant towards hot alcohol. The premier chef and wait staff are extremely down to earth and amiable in a way that lightens the atmosphere. The chef might even talk to you about life in the Pacific as he did with my friend. Either way, Tuna 2 has always been about top shelf taste and first rate experience. They serve both daily and it's one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever gone too, having been to Asia myself. As an extra perk, try the bubble tea.

I just love this place. First of all, the food is excellent. Second, the prices are reasonable. In addition, it is a family business. The owners are a couple who work night and day cooking various Asian dishes and making sushi/sashimi plates. The daughters wait tables and help out when they are not in school. This is not a high-end, glamorous restaurant. It is modest, and small. So, if you need a certain ambiance, it might not be right for you. However, if you want delicious food from a wonderful family, you have to give it a try. Everyone I have introduced to the restaurant loves it. My favorite things to order are the specialty rolls, which are on a separate menu.

Very nice, quiet and enjoyable restaurant. I would have to say they have excellent Asian food and probably the best sushi bar in the Elmira area. Prices are reasonable, service is great and the food is delicious. You can't go wrong here... Be sure to try the spring rolls and fried pork dumplings for an appetizer. For your main course I would recommend the spicy tuna roll. It was delicious.

Don't let the small building and the run down look on the outside fool you. This place has some excellent sushi. The inside is not super fancy, but it's nice and cozy. If you like the true "hole in the wall" type of restaurant, give Tuna a try.
